16-19 Tuition Fund Statement - 2023/2024 Academic Year
The 16 to 19 tuition fund is ring-fenced funding to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19). The funding is to support small group tuition for students aged 16 to 19 in English, Maths and other subjects.
ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ is in receipt of some of these funds and intends to use the funding to support eligible students by providing small group tuition (groups of up to five students maximum 7) in a range of subjects including English and Maths. The tuition will be provided by existing staff and through the recruitment of additional supporting staff. Each eligible student initially will receive up to 20 hours of support but this will be monitored and, where possible, additional support will be made available.
Eligible learners are those who are on a 16-19 study programme or T Level programme who have not previously achieved a grade 6 or above in either English or Maths at GCSE. The learners have been selected based on the GCSE results that have been confirmed and enrolled for the support. This includes those aged 19-24 who have an Education Health Care Plan.
There is scope to extend the eligibility to include those who are from an economically disadvantaged background who meet the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund eligibility criteria and would need catch-up support to reach their full potential, even where their prior attainment is high. We will consider our ability to support the wider group(s) where funds allow including those learners who live in the most deprived areas of the country (ie based on the index of multiple deprivation top 27%).
The type of support and provision will be determined by each faculty & will include a range of tuition-based activities and interventions to suit the individual needs of each student & programme of study.
