SEND Students Thrive During Work Experience at Co-op Bideford

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ is celebrating the recent success of its SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Supported Internship students, who have been thriving during their work experience placements at Co-op Bideford.

These opportunities are part of a wider programme aimed at equipping SEND students with vital skills for the workplace, boosting their confidence, and preparing them for future employment.

Colan Atkinson, a representative from Co-op Bideford, praised the partnership and the positive impact the students have had on the workplace:

“We have supported the placement of a couple of students from PETROC over the past couple of years and would happily recommend this programme to other employers. The engagement with the College has always been good, with changes to agreed working patterns clearly communicated.”

He went on to commend the students’ dedication and enthusiasm:

“I have found the students to show a keen interest in learning as well as interacting well with the rest of the team. They have been polite and shown a good level of customer service. I would willingly support any further opportunities to give your students some work experience.”

These placements underscore the importance of creating inclusive opportunities for SEND students to gain real-world experience and develop their potential.

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ would like to thank Co-op Bideford for their continued support and commitment to fostering an inclusive workforce and we look forward to expanding partnerships with other local businesses this year to ensure more students can benefit from these transformative experiences.
